Yua is the name for customary shell money in the Arapesh language from my home province of East Sepik. My name is Emmanuel Narokobi and Yua is an expression of my ideas on how we can draw on our past while looking to the future. Traditionally Yua was used for trade but, along with trade, Yua represents the value of relationships placed on these customary exchanges. The future of financial services must be the same; it is not just about money but how we can enhance relationships and build ecosystems that can benefit everyone. Papua New Guinea (PNG) and the Blue Pacific share many common traditional bonds and, by enabling inclusion and addressing the unique needs of the region with a combination of digital platforms and strategic partnerships, we can truly ignite economic change.

Yua is unique in that it is based on the fundamental principles of collaboration and cooperation. Yua’s goal is a win-win-win solution; a mutually beneficial and inclusive ecosystem which becomes an enabling platform in bridging the digital divide across the Blue Pacific.

Yua is built on an internationally proven digital platform with implementations across Europe and South-East Asia. As a fully integrated platform, Yua consolidates financial services, marketplace transactions, digital business productivity and eGovernment services through a free and easy-to-use Super App and a set of subscription-based SaaS modules. Yua is designed with a secure, robust and flexible API integration layer to leverage existing ecosystem capabilities and foster the innovative growth of local entrepreneurs with third party app integration. The combination of world-class platform infrastructure and open architecture creates an environment for rapid implementation of essential capabilities for social and economic growth and the ability to leap-frog other more developed contexts.

The Yua platform creates an ecosystem that engages and provides opportunities for all levels of government, community, businesses and individuals through its three core offerings – Yua Connect, Yua Business and Yua Gov. It is built on strategic partnerships, not competition - a big platform with room for everyone. We want to see it implemented and established as a vibrant local PNG start-up in partnership with like-minded people and organisations to empower local communities and economies across the Blue Pacific through collaborative impact-based projects.

This Prospectus seeks to provide context and explain what the Yua platform has to offer and the role it can play in creating an environment for social and economic growth across the region. We also share our thoughts on partnership models we believe can produce mutual value and deliver collaborative impact-based projects strategically within communities across the region.
